Winter is coming and what better time to start building something new. I just got a new foil from Gong and I’m going to do a “by the book Hiorth build” for it.
To spice things up abit I also decided to try something new. The fact that there is a 18 week delivery time on the Neugart got me thinking about direct drives.
This is the plan:
Create a direct drive using a inrunner that gets cooling from the aluminium tube as well as from the motor shaft. In order to do this we need a hollow shaft and we need a way to get water to flow through it.
This is the first draft:
I have modified some of the parts from the hiorth-build and made a new duct. The prop is from the forum and it has been modified so that it can be screwed onto the shaft using a ENSAT thread.
That hard part is modifying the motor. I’m getting a 100KV from Alien to start with.
I will use a 12s battery and the same ESC, YEP 120, as in my earlier build.
It might work and it might just melt, time will tell.
