Motor generating current back into ESC

Just curious about feedback/tests of what can happen from driving current back into the ESC from a turning motor. For instance from being towed, etc. Would this current find it’s way back to the battery? What other damage could occur? Thanks all.

Nah. With the prop just free spinning it’s fine. Think of an electric skateboard just coasting down a hill.

It’s when you’re braking that you have to worry about the regenerative amps charging the battery and possibly exceeding max ESC / battery voltage limits.

Thanks @Flightjunkie That’s how I thought about it too but thought it better to ask. And yeah, I guess the only danger I’ve seen in esk8’s is when a Regen system overcharges a battery if it doesn’t have protection against that condition.
