Safety with efoil, continued

Why do they use winglets facing upward? It will make it easier to break the surface when carving (maybe we don´t carve so much with our efoils) and more likely to hit them with your foots. Instead they have thewinglets on the backwing facing downwards.

And also why do the have these heatsink structure on the motor, do they really need that when the whole motor is in the water? If using an alu-mast the have a super big heatsink.

Winglets are something from the past, race foils have no winglets anymore since a little variation in A.o.a and shape does the trick more efficiently.
Back to Lift duct vs. Takuma, to me is just matter of good luck, “protection” on the back of the duct may prevent you to not stick a whole feet into, but your finger will get trashed even worst, trapped between those and the blades!

Does long duct shrinking to end (to lower chances of prop contact with leg) lowers productivity?
Or mb its can be done with positioning motor below foil?

There needs to be a bit more experimentation with the ducts I think. There are a few options that would greatly improve safety, but it depends on how much they reduce efficiency.

FLY SAFE carbon prop ar good but sharp as knife… on lift and FR its loot bether becuse you have perfect radius betwen eficient and safety… sometime its beter loose small on eficient and gain on safety…

It would be helpful if we knew how his fingers got in the prop.
Also does anyone think that the guarding/duct may cause more harm than good. If you stick your finger in a spinning prop from the fwd side the guard would create a firm surface for the prop to chop against.

you have right… with back protection its to 40% made more damage on flesh its only look more safe

More serious injuries, such as prop in face or head is less likely with a duct, as your head does not fit inside the duct inlet, same goes for most other body parts besides fingers and perhaps toes (without booties).

Cutting fingers/toes sucks, but it could sucks more with prop in face or head, or other body parts.

We usually ride with booties and gloves, and as a rule try to keep hands closed when falling, so toes and fingers don’t fit inside the duct openings.

No fun without risk

I find liftfoil very dangerous in thos regard! Their only failsafe is bluetooth link! When you fall the link breaks since you are underwater most likely and probably the radio has been configured with just enough rf output for short distance ( or receiver could monitor rssi all the time) this is very dangerous since it can tale couple of 100 milli second to detrct and shutdown the motor specially for aggressive riders

In that rpm it doesnt matter much it will cut and blend the fingers anyway. Sarcastically sharp prop might be better and less painful

Hi guys, I am new to efoil. I would wonder do you guys have the insulation monitoring device/water sensor in your battery box? To check whether there is any water go inside to the battery box ?

Not fancy, but working;

i would like to ask what is it and where to buy?

How about tilt switches that turn off the throttle? Anyone know such a switch?

Just picked this up myself. Arriving tuesday. Have you this wired into the circuit of your board or are you just using a seperate 9V battery for it?
Did you place the board flat on the base of your compartment?

Not only for my own concern, but also my friends and family that would like to ride my foil, I ordered some aramid butcher gloves, which I will put over my neoprene gloves. Hopefully this well help.

Also I ordered some light weight safety shoes to protect the feet.
