Motor won’t stop spinnning (ARC200 & Maytech set up)

Na, leave the amps as they are. You might use a short burst just to get up.

Ok thanks Jez, much appreciated as always :grinning:

I’ll give it a try and let you know how I get on.

If I still don’t have any luck I may try a different remote and receiver that I use for RC planes to see if it’s an issue with the Maytech

Still wouldn’t start on 18000 rpm so not sure if it worked or not. I tried it with 35000 rpm aswell and it did the same

It just made a popping gurgling sound like before but interestingly as i pressed the trigger the OC symbal in the Gui turned from green to red

See below:

As you can also see the OV symbol remains yellow constantly no matter what settings I use

Time to try the RC plane remote and receiver I think to see if that makes a difference

It’s nothing to do with the remote. It’s all to do with the config of the arc200. Run the wizard again. Then set the max voltage to 52v.
18000 should be the max RPM and if set in the correct place have nothing to do with startup.

Thanks I’ll try it and won’t bother with the other remote and receiver

Just trying it now, hand gone through the set up wizard again.

Do you mean change the over voltage cutoff to 52v? This looks like the only place I can change voltage

Change the foldback start to 52V and the Overvoltage cutoff as well.

I did it and it the yellow OV symbol is now green however the motor still won’t start it just makes the usual popping sounds and makes small rotations in both directions I’ll try and send you a video on Instagram

I believe you may have to play with the Startup Settings, “Section F” of the configuration wizard. These settings were something I had to smooth out after I couldn’t get the motor to initiate rotation in the water but could with it out of the water. @Jezza helped me out alot with everything else, but I believe this is specific to everyone’s certain build and the forces that the motor but overcome to begin rotation. Don’t touch anything though till @Jezza confirms because he is much more knowledgeable on the function of the ARC200 than I am

Thanks Tim.

Yes @Jezza has been an absolute legend and after me asking many many questions he helped me finally sort the issue with the motor not stopping. Basically I had the pole pairs setting wrong, I had put in 6 when it should have been 3

Now it spins very slowly but it does now stop when I release the trigger on the remote.

I will have a play with the startup settings this afternoon. The other issue I have is my motor sounds very rough when it’s running

By the way @Tim_Kirkpatrick are you using ‘speed mode’ or ‘torque forward only’?

Get the motor working in speed mode with ramp start. Once it sounds happy and good, then switch across to Torque forward only…

@Tim_Kirkpatrick this is my current startup settings

But interestingly when it run the startup wizard it suggest the following

I’m currently having some issues with my phase current elevating to 200A so I have not confirmed my setup yet.

However I have confirmed that adjusting my jitter start parameters enabled my prop to accelerate in the water rather than just repeatedly attempting to followed by it timing out and restarting the startup cycle without ever truly starting up.

Here are the settings I used to more smoothing transition from jitter start to rotation.

I will be testing my new parameters tonight to see if I have solved the high amp issues.

Thanks Tim, I’ll have a look and compare it with my current set up.

Do you mind me what motor and batteries you are using.

@Tim_Kirkpatrick tried a few of your settings the Arc200 spins up the motor and will stop with the command of the remote up to a certain RPM. Once it gets up to speed I loose all control of it

Will keep experimenting

Going to try it with a different esc today to see if there is any difference

Hope you managed to get your settings finalised

Thanks

Ramsay

What mode are you in and what what’s the max RPM set to?

Still in speed mode and 18000 rpm as you advised previously

About to try the 20A esc, I’ll let you know how I get on

Thanks ram! Still no luck. My phase currents keep pushing 200A causing the ESC to go limp. Right when yah think you have it all ready it decides to introduce a new challenge

Is this in the water or just testing?
What have you set your max phase current to?

In the lake. And it is set to 150A I posted the log up a little. Changed connections but still doing it
