Leading edge slats

Has anyone heard about that 1935 plane, known for taking off on extremely short distances ?

Thre are a few ideas here for us , like those leading edge slats

The idea is to warp the profile when taking off to minimize needed power to take off

Interesting but difficult to implement. IMHO, implementing a flap (wing trailing edge) seems easier and less prone to jamming (weeds/algae for example) that would in turn create unwanted drag. The difficulty here is to avoid creating dirt traps.

Yep. But that is only for a few seconds. If I am not mistaking this plane can take off at 29 km/h…
