Is this really necessary to strenghten an old windsurf board?

The foil is creating much effort on the board, which could break in some cases right in front of the foil. Modern foil boards have actually two thick stringers along the board.

For those who simply cut the board from an old windsurf, did you have to strengthen it too ?

Thanks

I am definitely planning to put aluminum rails in my board and then “potting” them into place with spray foam. But I haven’t actually cut the board open yet.

I’m also thinking of buying a big heat sink plate and milling out the pattern for the mast, then tying it into the rails; making it both a mount point and a heat sink for the electronics.
