Chinese hydrofoil for efoil?

@smarm : I bought two masts. One 65cm long for practicing and one 90cm long for the final design. Don’t forget to use the TradeAssurance!

This is a rebuilt chinese foil (more or less all foils are built there I guess?)… changed the fuselage.

Works really well  loads of lift . Would go for windsurf foil to get sufficient lift.

@Hiorth: Pretty nice picture, btw! But if you have to much lift the prop will come out of the water earlier and you have a lower top speed. Or am I wrong? What did you paid for your foil?

Wow, i am from Norway too, love your work. Can you post where you bay this.
Takker på forhånd Aslak

400$ for foil. You can adjust the lift by tilting the board. At too speed you just have to rikt the board slighlty forward. Works like a charm, will post some video soon:)

Super high speed would require a smaller foil;)

what you mean by tilting the board?

Leaning forward (tilting the board) lower the AoA of the wing. Probably not super efficient but works well. At least for us inexperienced foilers.

@Hiorth, Thanks :smile:

Where are you from? If from Germany, we can share the shipping.

Is there any reason why a foil costs $1500? I think this is why American and Euro companies don’t make anything anymore. They build something that is great, but then charge such high prices that we are forced to buy knockoff products. Its a shame the designer doesn’t make any money. Why not charge a reasonable fee in the first place. I might understand a custom carbon fiber version, but my Slingshot foil is really just some straight aluminum pieces and some chunks of plastic. What a ripoff! Sad thing is now $250 now sounds like a steal and I might buy a few!

Hello
can you tell me where you found your foil because it looks like mine and I just broke my front wing?
thank you

Australia. Might not work

:joy:

I can get it cheaper from the moon.

Technicians in Germany charge 50€ an hour. If you need 5 hours for a foil, thats 250€ plus materials, rent, tools, R&D, insurance, and so on. There is a ton of health and safsty stuff involved. Breathing protection, first aid training, first aid materials, fire extinguishers, fire plans, two escape paths and so on. 19% is VAT. I think 1500€ for a carbon foil is reasonable.

I want to get a foil from China too.

Love the look of the new setup, great work. I’m looking at getting this foil, it shows in the pictures the 78cm version of the carbon mast is hollow. Do you think this would do the job? yea, i hear you, its expensive for what you actually get, i just bought a slingshot mast and base for around 180euro and plan to build the rest, it might be the way to go, did think about building the mast also, but when you see the slingshot mast, it is a nice solid foil,

Just ordered 3 of these A-1 foils with two friends for sup foiling here in LA. I think these would work great for efoils too, I will try it.

I think when choosing foil you need to be aware of the front wing position related to the mast. For windsurfing it seems like the wing is further forward than with a kite hydrofoil. I think this could have something to with having a foil compatible with the fin/tuttlebox position on windsurfing boards.
For the strength and stiffnes I think it would be better to have it closer to the mast as the lift comes from the front of the wing.
It seems like SUP-foils also further forward and also the usually have shorter mast and really large area on the wings to be able to lift in less speed.

How much did you pay? I tried to order one but my credit card failed. The vendor offered me a big discount if I was going to buy it somewhere else. But then he pulled back again and said its already cheap enough. Will be 500€ here with taxes. Difficult to buy a SUP foil in Germany though. I only find kite foils.
